Introduction
Associated with TRiDaS are a number of controlled vocabularies that standardise terms to help facilitate exchange of data. There are two types of vocabularies in TRiDaS: internal schema vocabularies; and external vocabularies.
Internal vocabularies
Internal vocabularies are small (typically less than 20 terms), and are defined within the TRiDaS schema. Such vocabularies include: dating type; location type; measuring method; ring remarks; element shape; measurement units; and variable type. The terms used in these vocabularies are listed within the schema documentation. Changes to these vocabularies are handled within the life-cycle of the data standard.
External vocabularies
External vocabularies are used in TRiDaS where the number of terms involved is large and there is a need to improve the the vocabularies outside the life-cycle of the data standard. A number of external vocabularies are provided here and we recommend using these when using TRiDaS, however, the standard allows for the use of any appropriate controlled vocabulary. If you prefer to use other vocabularies please contact the TRiDaS team to help us understand how TRiDaS is being used. The TRiDaS external vocabularies were developed initially as part of the DCCD project and were further developed during the ARIADNE project.
Below is a list of external vocabularies developed alongside TRiDaS. Each vocabulary is available in Turtle and RDF/XML formats, as well as human readable PDF reports.
